Selective Live is Back. We’re reopening and stepping into an exciting new chapter at our new home — the rooftop of BlackBrick Gardens Hotel. Elevated, intimate, and effortlessly soulful,Selective Live returns as your go-to Sunday experience where music, culture, and sunset summers meet.Def Eff (short for Definitely Efficient) is a Cape Town–based performance artist, lyricist and sonic curator. His work lives at the intersection of hip-hop, jazz and live experience.Rooted in sharp wordplay and layered musicality, his practice extends beyond recording. It moves into embodied storytelling, where rhythm, language and presence converge.Known for his commanding stage presence and emotionally resonant delivery, Def Eff crafts performances that move between intensity and introspection. Backed by a live jazz band, his shows dissolve the boundaries of traditional hip-hop. Each set becomes a dynamic, genre-blending composition that honours the culture while expanding its possibilities.Originally from Mthatha in the Eastern Cape, he relocated to Cape Town in 2005 to study film. This influence continues to shape his cinematic approach to music and performance. His work explores themes of love, identity and the human condition. It is delivered with a maturity that resonates across generations and cultural backgrounds. With a growing catalogue and a meticulous commitment to both sonic and visual quality, Def Eff is carving out a distinctive lane. One that is as intentional as it is soulful and as refined as it is raw.26th May Sunday | Blackbrick rooftop| Doors Open - 15h00 |Show - 18h00| Ticket Entry - Early Bird - R120.
